T-Times Day and Take Two

Eleanor JOhnson holds up bumper sticker designed to raise money to assist in gulf coast relief.

You can imagine my delight when, a few minutes ago, Kris called out “Hey, Eleanor is on the front page of the paper!” (especially if you read yesterday’s blog about Illahee staff members making a difference) Sure enough, front and center, there is a full size article highlighting another amazing Camp Illahee counselor, Eleanor Johnson.  Eleanor is a junior at Converse College and has been on staff for two summers, one as a cabin counselor and most recently as the director of the ceramics program.

Eleanor came to my office mid-summer to share her enthusiasm over a project that she was embarking on to help raise money for the gulf coast cleanup effort. She had designed a bumper sticker to sell locally, with all proceeds going to the Nature Conservancy.  Through the remainder of the summer, Eleanor worked on the project and now has several stores in town selling the sticker. Just after camp, I popped into D.D. Bullwinkle’s and they were almost out, ready for a second order!

I am so pleased to see the project continuing to gain momentum with the article in today’s paper. Eleanor certainly deserves the recognition for her hard work and desire to make a difference. Way to go, Eleanor!!!
