We're glad we don't have to say goodbye to Caroline this August!

Great news from Camp Illahee! Caroline Warren will be starting a year round internship at Illahee after she graduates from Vanderbilt University this May.  A seven year camper, and a four year counselor, Caroline has been a wonderful leader on staff.  With Illahee girl prowess, she has taught a wide range of activities during her counselor summers: Trips Training Climbing, Lacrosse, Fit for Life, Arts & Crafts and Cooking.  She has been the Spark counselor as well as Head of Hill for Pineview.  This summer she will continue her role as the Waterfront Director and will be in charge of the Junior Counselor program as the “JC Mom”- talk about wearing a lot of hats!

An elementary education major, Caroline currently is student teaching a 6^th grade class at Rose Park Middle School in Nashville.  She also is a committed Young Life leader at Harpeth Hall School in Nashville where she helps to lead a girls Bible study as well as the weekly club meetings.  Caroline has a heart for teens and loves to mentor girls, which has been evident in her role as cabin counselor.  A native of Atlanta, Caroline recalls learning to be herself and to have fun when she was a middle school age camper at Illahee.  She found that Illahee counselors showed her who she wanted to be and what she valued most.

Caroline brings a spirit of fun and authenticity wherever she goes.  She looks forward to continuing to build relationships with campers and staff helping to foster the Illahee community even outside of the summer season.  “It stinks to leave camp in August.  I’m going to be there a while and it’s going to be great.” She also hopes to complete the ‘oh, we should do this next summer!’ projects. Caroline enjoys hiking, running, loves to read and of course to hang out with friends.  She also has been taking banjo lessons. “I’ve progressed from ‘horrible’ to ‘mediocre-bad’ this year.”  Maybe she’ll tote that banjo to campfire this summer- the Nashville sound comes to Illahee!
