Our Ninety-Year History

In 1919, a young Transylvania County entrepreneur named Joe Tinsley bought a hundred acres of land in order to start a summer camp for girls. With the help of an idealistic educator named Hinton McLeod and his wife, Francis, Camp Illahee opened in 1921.
