In 1919, a young Transylvania County entrepreneur named Joe Tinsley bought a hundred acres of land in order to start a summer camp for girls. With the help of an idealistic educator named Hinton McLeod and his wife, Francis, Camp Illahee opened in 1921.

With this website, we've tried to bring a sense of the adventure, creativity, enthusiasm and fun that are the hallmarks of the Illahee experience.
So take a look around, acquaint yourself with all that Camp Illahee offers, and get ready to join us for the "Best Summer Ever"!
