ready, set…GO!
Sports at Illahee are more about setting individual goals to increase skills and self-confidence than they are about competition. No need to fret, though, there is always a chance to show off your stuff in a friendly tennis tournament, a camp-wide swim show or the end-of-session riding show.
Swimming
Our clean, spring-fed Swimming Lake is a most popular destination for campers of all ages. Warm summer days find girls splashing, diving, racing, synchronized swimming, learning life-guarding techniques, as well as getting down to the serious business of imitating Tarzan on our rope swing and water slide.
tennis
Illahee’s tennis program gives all girls the opportunity to serve one over the net, whether they’re new to a racket or destined for Wimbledon. Competitive players may opt to participate in tournaments against other area camps and in the highly anticipated camper/counselor tournament.
horseback riding
Since first opening its doors, Camp Illahee has a tradition of providing top-notch equestrian instruction, in Hunt Seat equitation, to girls of all skill levels. Our equestrian center features three outdoor and one indoor ring and offers small, individual classes in which campers receive the attention they need. There is no additional charge for riding.
marksmanship
Inspiring confidence and focus, Camp Illahee’s marksmanship program is an important part of our overall activity program. Girls learn archery and riflery under close supervision and are able to keep track of their progress from year to year. Campers “aim” for the Illahee Archer and Sharp Shooter honor.
field hockey and lacrosse
For entering sixth graders and up, basic instruction in field hockey and lacrosse is provided for any girl hoping to make learning a new game and/or improving her skills a summertime goal.
sPORTS UNLIMITED
Kickball. Soccer. Volleyball. Basketball. No one gets left out of our games. At Illahee, our team sports are built around the idea that everyone is a most valuable player. Learning to work together to achieve a common goal is the most important part of the game.
fitness for life
Through fun games and group exercise, this program encourages girls to shape up. Older girls may enjoy higher levels of cardiovascular and strength-training using step aerobics and the Illahee “circuit,” a fun and challenging fitness course with stations located throughout camp.
gymnastics
Enthusiastic instructors help campers turn themselves over, under, sideways and backwards as they build flexibility and strength through gymnastics. It’s one place where girls will literally flip out when they master new skills.
