We are so happy that you have interest in learning more about the  Riding staff positions at Illahee! Camp has top notch facilities on 110 wooded acres. The equestrian center includes a 22 stall barn, three outdoor rings and a covered arena. We offer mounted lessons to all levels of riders, as well as horse management (unmounted) and vaulting activities. The primary assignment for staff is to be camper focused and positive role models while teach riding lessons and completing necessary barn chores,

Individual responsibilities include:

  • 3-4 horses to care for
  • Grooming and tacking these 3-4 horses for 1st and 4th periods
  • Keeping horses trimmed and manes pulled
  • Caring for general injuries
  • Helping to pick stalls, check water and tack horses for the following periods
  • teaching lessons

Riding Staff work Monday through Saturday with most evenings and Sundays off.

The daily schedule:

  • 7:00 AM          Feed and bring in horses (staff alternate)
  • 8:00                 Breakfast (for staff)
  • 8:30                 Groom and Tack
  • 9:45- 10:35      First period
  • 10:45-11:35     Second period
  • 11:45-12:35     Third period
  • 12:35-1:00       Barn chores
  • 1:00                 Lunch (for staff)
  • 2:30                 Afternoon feed (staff alternate)
  • 3:10 – 3:55       Fourth period
  • 4:05 – 4:50       Fifth period
  • 5 – 6:15            Choice period, barn chores
  • 6:15                 Dinner (for staff)
  • 7:00                 Finish up barn chores, if needed
  • 7:30                 Enjoy evening program, help when needed

Available positions include a barn manager and 8-10 staff members.
